EliminateChildMalnutrition cover

To call Nigerian Govt & International comm to take action to eliminate child malnutrition in Nigeria

Malnutrition is a direct or underlying cause of 45 percent of all deaths of under-five children. Nigeria has the second highest burden of stunted children in the world, with a national prevalence rate of 43 percent of children under five - translating into 16.5 million children. With malnutrition rates currently declining at an annual average rate of just 3.1 percent. Nigeria is not on track to achieve the SDG target of a 40 percent reduction of stunting by 2025, for which the rate of decline must increase to 5.5 percent. An estimated 2.5 million children in Nigeria suffer from severe acute malnutrition (SAM), but only two out of every 10 children affected is currently reached with treatment. It is in view of the above that I launched a campaign on social media on Child Malnutrition, to create awareness and crave the support of Government, International NGOs, community leaders, agencies and patriotic individuals within Nigeria and abroad to take action to save our dying malnourished children especially in northern Nigeria.
