A lobster catcher which has octagon shape and have an effective ability in catching lobster.
"I-Loca (Innovative Lobster Catcher) is an 8-octagonal lobster trap innovation tool with better advantages than the usual lobster trap tool. The I-Loca lobster trap tool can increase the income and profits of fishermen with more catching capacity. In addition, the advantage of this I-Loca lobster catcher is its practical design because it is easy to carry and easy to store, strong but lightweight and corrosion resistant because we use stainless steel material plus it has a detection sensor that makes it easy for fishermen to easily get the presence of lobster. Plus this lobster catcher is safe, durable and uses materials that are friendly to the environment.
Why did we make I-Loca?
- Indonesia is a maritime country with a land area of 5.8 million km2 with 70% of the total area being water.
- Indonesia has abundant marine resource potential.
- Maritime Industry and Sea Products Processing is one of the leading industry clusters of foreign exchange earnings.
- Indonesia ranks third largest in fisheries production after China and India.
- The catch of Lamongan and Gresik fishermen who use small-sized vessels so that the catch is not optimal because of the minimal capacity of the boat.
- Lobster is a popular food with high economic value.
- East Java has potential resources, namely lobster.
- Lobster has very high economic potential with the price per kilogram of lobster being Rp. 450.000,-
- Lamongan and Gresik fishermen which only catch Lobster by accident or just luck factor.
- Lobster catcher tool previously cannot be stored and carried easily.
- The former lobster catcher has no sensor detector.
- Lobster catcher which does not have a lifting or pulley.
The purpose of I-Loca is to facilitate fishermen with innovative and applicable lobster catcher tools that are safe, easy to use, environmental friendly, lightweight and strong tools to improve the community's economy through optimal lobster fishing.
Previously we did product observation and have a testing in the fishing communities in Gresik and Lamongan, East Java in their lobster catching activities to find out the fishermen's needs and the obstacles they experienced when catching lobsters. Based on this trial conduction for one week, the catch using I-Loca fishing tool is 100% gaining more lobster than using the former tool. Based on the trial results, the advantages of using i-Loca tool are:
- Using safety, lightweight and corrosion resistant.
- Able to catch more lobsters and increase the productivity of fishermen.
- Products can be folded and stored.
- There is a lobster sensor detection.
I-Loca has an impact not only on the social but also on the economy area, especially fishing communities. The impact that we will give through I-Loca is.
Economy Impact:
- Increasing economy community or fishermen, especially fishermen Paciran and Gresik.
- Increasing regional income due to gaining more lobster through the gear.
Social Impact:
- Reducing the level of social deviation or criminality because the community's economy is increase.
- Increasing fishermen's solidarity because fishermen often gather to discuss i-Loca performance and lobster productivity.
Right now, we are still trying to develop our appropriate technology product and make the product perfectly and looking for the path for marketing efforts of i-Loca tool. Through Young Changemakers Social Enterprise Academy 2, we believe we will get a path and support from experts and donatur to achieve our goals to help economic and social parts of fisheries communities."
