When : we were established in 15 September 2015 Who: 3 women who had background in humanitarian works and had been working in remote areas in Indonesia Why: we saw the huge potential of tourism industry in Indonesia and how it can change lives of the less fortunate and less educate people within short time Where: we start in Alor island - East Nusa Tenggara province, then expand to Sulawesi, and other areas What: we develop new tours and train the community members to be involved in the tours then we create the system on how to expand and share the knowledge to other people. Tourism: the best opportunity for sustainability

<div>MALA Ecotours is a social enterprise based in Alor - Nusa Tenggara Timur, Indonesia, we are promoting tourism destinations in Indonesia to create more business and job opportunities for youth and communities in remote islands. All of our tours are created based on sharing-economy, fair-trade and conservation values, we also involved the local communities actively in our tours and train them to be more capable tourists guides. We do these because poverty, lack of jobs opportunities, and lack of knowledge about nature conservation are the main challenges of developing tourism in Indonesia, especially in remote islands.</div><div>Large parts of our profits goes to support social projects like Dugong &amp; turtle conservation project in Alor, mangrove conservation projects, Orangutan conservation projects, local craft &amp; food products development, shoes for kids in remote islands &amp; orphanages, as well as supporting women and children who were victims of domestic &amp; sexual abuse that are staying in a safe house. One of our campaign now is #malaecotours, by buying our tours packages you can support one of the social projects we had been doing since the beginning of our company establishment.&nbsp;</div><div>Together with 4 pilot villages in Alor regency and Adonara regency, we are now opening new tourism-related job opportunities for locals, such as becoming a tourist guide, snorkelling guide, responsible lobster-fishermen, and develop local culture show while conserving the Dugongs and sharks (mainly tresher sharks) that are common to be found in these 2 regions.</div><div><br></div><div>We need support from #BeSociopreneur to escalate our social impacts and exposure for our initiatives.
