AAKAR is a one-for-all sustainable fashion network in Indonesia. We provide access amongst sellers, buyers, researchers, students, and producers to gain information about sustainable and eco-fashion (reuse, upcycle, thrift, eco-production), market their products, share and gain access to educational blogs and articles, and community spaces to exchange and share their ideas and information. We promote local eco-products to gain more exposures across the country. We use technology to advance our business cycle especially for finance and bookkeeping, inventory management, social media, marketing, and customer service. We take collaboration and partnership very seriously as our role is the connector for several parties. We have been running since June 2019 with 3 people as our core team with various backgrounds in big 4 company, start-ups, and global high-end fashion magazine.

As we are stepping into another decade, the condition of our Earth will not get any better if we don’t change the way we treat fashion. As the second most polluted industry, now is the time where we become more mindful and responsible on how our fashion cycle is created and sustained. The end-to-end cycle from production to waste management needs to be improved for the greater good, and it needs our collective efforts and contributions to achieve the goals that we all desired and for the rewards that we all favored. Their venture has enabled the farmers in the remote area to have a secure and reliable access to financial inclusivity by optimising blockchain and AI as the core features and innovations of their products. During the course, we have noted several points on how to build a strong foundations to create significant impacts effectively for social entrepreneurs, which are:<div><br><div><b>1. Understand well on which problems you want to tackle.</b></div><div>In the context of this coaching class video, Larissa has well explained the clear problems that has been happening inside agricultures sectors for centuries. They are invisible, and still are. No matter how advanced the financial sectors right now, financial access for the invisibles are still invisibles and scattered. That is the problem that HARA aims to solve by using their app so it’ll be more effective and efficient in shortening the existing gap. Well-defined problems is a great lead for all social entrepreneurs to decide what kind of solutions that you want to offer, that is well fit to the target market, audiences, and stakeholders. Not only by providing the access about financial information to the farmers, HARA steps in to connect them to the financial institutions, so they help them to provide the access and information for both parties, resulting a greater impact, for example, banks providing working capital for the farmers who they seem fit as debtors.</div><div><br></div><div><b>2. Get localised and get the details</b></div><div>True that agricultures are located in various remote area in Indonesia that could create another problems when we got into the details. Larissa mentioned that in rural area, they speak in their on languages, their own terms, that may cause the mishaps in communications with the standardised system financial institutions because of these differences. Basically, they dont speak the same language, and this create another barrier for information accessibility. By incorporating tech on their app (geotagging and location), they help to bridge this gap by providing relevant and accurate results for normal standardised measurement. This innovation can only be discovered once we get into the details, get localised, talk to them, identify the ongoing problems, and give the correct solutions.</div><div><br></div><div><b>3. Embrace the gender diversity</b></div><div>Inside your workplace, with your target market, with the stakeholders. Focus on business impacts - make sure that the product and service we create will accelerate the business&nbsp;</div><div>2. Ruthlessly prioritise - by keeping the team lean then we need to be more critically and carefully prioritize on things that need to be executed first</div><div>3. Give the freedom for the team to contribute - interconnected to previous coaching class, this is one of the key actions in building the great workplace to empower our people so they can thrive to become their best version of themselves. We mainly promote and advocate sustainable fashion for the fashion actors and consumers via creative digital contents &amp; campaigns (#MengAakar) and programs. We realise that over-consumption is the main cause for fashion to become the second most polluted industry. The average person buys 60% more clothing every year and keeps them for about half as long as 15 years ago. Furthermore, consumers are regarded as the main culprit for throwing away their used clothing, as only 15% of used clothing is recycled, and more than 75% of pre-use clothing is recycled by the manufacturers. Hence, AAKAR aims to become the ultimate connector amongst these parties as the effective apparatus to achieve mindful consumptions, that eventually will lead to mindful productions. We infuse the 4 pillars of sustainability principle to our programs, which are human, social, economic, and environmental. We believe that the great collaborations amongst these aspects will create the future that we and future generations need and aspire to be. Our main programs focus on B2C online fashion wearables rental platform by establishing collaborations and partnerships with the fashion creators. Currently we are developing our C2C SWOP &amp; Thrifts program by connecting the no-longer-wanted fashion wearables to the new chances for them, and C2C online rental platform program to give them opportunity to earn income from their idle fashion wearables. We are excited to collaborate with the the fashion players to embrace and create the end-to-end sustainable fashion supply chain flow that will benefit us all.</div><div><br></div><div>AAKAR has been running since June 2019 when we started our pilot project for the B2C online rental fashion wearables programs and the responses from public was very optimistic. As of today, we have almost reached 100 orders. We also invest in our R&amp;D to establish other innovative and effective programs so we can create the greater goods for the greater impacts.
