According to cencus data of Economy in 2016, Indonesian women are still leading the percentage of creative economy business owner. Although, it is majority in fashion and culinary subsector. Creative Economy Board and Statistics Centre Board mentioned that other subsectors are still dominated by men. It is also occured in Medan city. Whereas, creative economy is projected to be growing more. Moreover, Medan is well strategic which is located near with other countries, such as Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore. Because of that, Sirkam (Sirkulasi Kreasi Perempuan/ Women Creation Circulation) was initiated. Sirkam is a community for women artists for collaborating, sharing knowledge and experience, and marketing. By participating in this community, women artists are expected to be independent in economy and social. Sirkam concerns with musics, arts, literature, and social issues. It is established on September 28, 2018 in Medan, North Sumatra by Citra Hasan (an educator and social enthusiast) and her friends. Sirkam has several programs such as public discussion, book reviews, classes, workshops, exhibitions, and zine writings.
