Our social enterprise namely Tinung Rambu was established to empower women and elderly through weaving. The program start by bonding the weavers through the community that we built. We start the project from 3 weaver and 1 co founder to develop the community. Now we have about 25 families that are working with us. Tinung Rambu produce the woven products in the form of shawl, sarong, clothes, tshirt, tote bag and other creations. We hope through Tinung Rambu, the weavers can have an additional revenue especially women which can support their live such as education and food for daily needs. We do the works with values of women empowerment, fair trade, natural dyes, culture preservation and high quality product. Every product is made with details and introduction on the story behind such as weavers and motif information. We hope the adopter (buyer) will have understanding of culture and also proud of local product. The woven is specially made for each buyer through traditional process. The traditional process is still being kept with special attention on quality, process chain and culture preservation.

Unfortunately, the woven as source of income for low middle class in East Nusa Tenggara especially in East Sumba, is currently decreasing by numbers. The women and elderly have been facing difficulties to make this heritage comes alive and keep it as their identity. The low revenue (about 0.5 USD per day) and presence of middle man in many aspects of sources of revenue including woven industry makes many families live in poverty and face difficulties to pass this heritage to their heir. Through Tinung Rambu, we hope to empower the women with their abilities for weaving which will have impact to culture preservation and also to increase the environment protection using natural dyes working. We also promote the originality of creation to buyer/adopter to make them proud of the culture as identity of Indonesian. Pitching the idea to get investment is one of the main thing for start up like us.
