Growing up, I was no stranger to having friends with divorced parents.<div><br /></div><div>They were often stigmatized, because of the fact that children of divorce had 3x more chance to be involved with all things that society has condemned (substance abuse, mental deterioration, etc.)</div><div><br /></div><div>After my own parents went through a divorce, I realized that not only were children of divorce stigmatized, what they were experiencing (the divorce of their parents) were deemed as normal, as something that everyone goes through and should be faced easily...</div><div><br /></div><div>My own teacher told a friend of mine who was going through substance abuse because of their parents' divorce 'to grow up, get over it, it doesn't MATTER!'</div><div><br /></div><div>This campaign aims to get society to understand that the effects of a  divorce towards the children does MATTER.</div><div><br /></div><div>That a divorce should always be carried out by considering the involvement of the children and their mental and physical well being.</div><div><br /></div><div>The current statistics by McKinlin Law Institutes has pinned down that 1 in 2 children below 18 today will experience the divorce of their parents.</div><div><br /></div><div>In Jakarta alone, it is estimated that around 200.000 divorce cases occur a year (The Jakarta Post, 2010).</div><div><br /></div><div>The numbers are staggering...in America 1.5 million children are affected by divorce cases a year.</div><div><br /></div><div>The time to act is now, to provide assistance to the children affected by divorce, to shout out that WeMatter</div><div><br /></div>
