Introduce Rubysh. The first trendsetter for waste made eco-fashion products. We exist with the aim to upcycle waste stream to create sustainable local circular economy for marginalized communities. In short, we just simply collect the waste and creatively transform them into something that you can proudly wear and show off to the world.

Our initiative roots from the lack of added value of recycling processes at the household and industrial level where most of waste comes from. Our socio-preneur is intended to provide scalable economic generating opportunities for all stakeholders in waste upstream. As such, we encourage local people to participate in proper waste sorting and handling with our financially attractive activities. As the additional value, better waste management at source can be achieved while offering considerable amount of income for mostly women as our benefit recipient as well. 

Unfortunately, we can not do this alone as for a great degree we need you so much to make our initiative impactful. By supporting us of course you have indeed helped us to establish better place with less waste and empower women in need.

Vote Rubysh for YCSE Academy

We really enjoyed the second coaching especially to also meet Helga, the founder of Burgreens and listen to her experience in her first 5 years of running the business. She highlighted an important notion that at that timeframe a start-up business would face a great challenge, not to get large profit, however to keep survive during that time. 
That was also what we Rubysh experienced during our first years. We found that we have been spent a lot just to keep our company exist till now.

Somehow, economic profit would be a second priority because the first would be surrounding the efforts to sustain the business operation which for sure costs us lots of money. Despite that hard time, we realized that we gained many beneficial lessons. We now have much better understanding about own products, more streamlined production flow, even more organized and digitalized financial bookkeeping.

Helga mentioned a quite true aspect of business, during the times we get to know better our market leading us go to the right marketing strategy and target. In this second coaching, we were also given an opportunity to exercise a little practice. This time was about defining our market. After this fun activity, we eventually took many insights about who we are, who our market is, and how we can reach them as well.

Overall, the class was once again such a nice experience and the vegan foods. Yummy. So inspired to start a healthy diet, worth to try right?

Coaching Class #2

It was so thrilled to have our first coaching session in atamerica since we took a long journey to Pacific Place Mall in the City Centre of Sudirman. Our impression is that meme about young and cool executive visiting this place is very accurate. While we dressed casually among people who wore expensive office attires, we felt that we were being exiled with just their strong glance. 

This session speaker was from Evoware team. Honestly it was our first time to hear that name. Evoware is a kind of socio-preneur who utilizes seaweeds to become edible materials for packaging and containers. They shared several key steps to create an interesting proposal which may attract potential investors. Oneof the Founders (David) also told us that we need to become versatile when writing the proposal and trying to understand the nature of people who read our proposal. 

To keep class interesting, Evoware invited us to make our own business canvas. Busines canvas is a simple tool to help us build a small framework of our business. This canvas can become a useful guidance for us when we start our business. The content of business canvas will also adapt to the change while our business operating.

First class was a great success, we are therefore expecting to attending next sessions. By the way, atamerica security is so impressive never have like that before.

Coaching Class #1

Finally we have completed all the classes, and for the last we have a coaching related with how to measure social impact from our business. The class was a bit vacant so we had the opportunity to have a closer look with other participant ideas and even have more interaction with the speaker (Romy). 

We were guided to find our company ultimate goal so that it can help us to figure out appropriate measurement technique for the social impact. Several examples were given to help us understand the mission statement, start from the simple one to something that very long. We were also informed that simple mission statement was sufficient for us yet is still needs to be sharp and on point to maintain the focus of what we want to do with our business. 

As usual, we also had a little exercise; this time is about making mission statement and together with the participant enhancing the mission statement to make it more clear and measurable. Q&A session was also offered in the end before the closing.

After the last class, I went to campaign office and met with two humble and nice staffs there. We for a short moment talked and exchanged bit information. To me it was a great service, and so amazed with their dedication to the company, something out of the class that I will take as role model in my own company.

Coaching Class #4

It was very sad to not be able to attend the Third class, as we had another schedule to follow. Thanks to the power of social media we still had the opportunity to keep updated with the class. This time we had two special guest speakers, first from GEN and the second from Duanyam.

Indeed both clarify that when we can do in order to penetrate the market is by offering innovative products and services. By the help of internet and easier access to the available information, innovation comes and goes so quickly. This rapid change disrupts many big companies and demands them to adjust or even make dramatic revolution to keep competitive in the market. This on the other hand provides a new opportunity for small company to also gain the market shares. One of the things we can do is by making innovation, and for this matters both speakers came out with a list of useful advices for us.

Workshop was also provided to give direct experience about the learning materials for that session; unfortunately we could not have that experience. Yet we have the last one next week and we do not have any agenda on our calendar. So see you next week.

Rubysh comprises a small yet dedicated team with varying expertise. Here are the members.

1. Encep Amir. CEO. He is responsible for leading the company and directing company strategies/actions to reach the corporate goals

2. Maulana Yusuf. COO. He is mainly handling the operational activities on the field including running the workshops and organizing online marketplace

3. Endang Murpratiwi Rahayu. CFO. She manages company spending and expenditure while also compiling financial reports for the company

4. Risa Gama Siregar. Lead of Design. She is the one who creates product prototypes and conduct market test for product development

5. Siti Salamah. Lead of Humar Resources. She larglely deals with handcrafter recruitment and measuring social impact of our activities

Till this current moment, we have successfully utilized more than 300 kg of PET waste plastic as our materials, not to mention, other HDPE packaging and wasted fabrics. At present, we already have 7 workshops, employing in total more than 30 women and more in the future. Each person may gain a net earning of roughly 400 thousands for one cycle of production.

Despite all challenges and difficulties we already have passed throughout the years, we have some memorable moments and recognitions to be thankful for. We of course credit all achievements as listed below to our solid and hardworking team.
