When was the last time you put yourself first? Whether you’re a full time student, a parent or an employee, there seems to not be enough time in the day to get everything done! Don’t get me wrong - responsibilities are important, but when was the last time you actually sat back, relaxed, took a step back from all the hustle and bustle, and listened to yourself?
Just like how you listened and prioritized your children, your clients, your stakeholders, and family, you need that same respect and love as well. Constantly putting your needs and yourself as second, might actually harm your mental and physical well-being.
Here are some ways to get into the habit of carving some time off for yourself in a busy schedule:
Day & Night - start your day and end your day with you. Take some quiet time for yourself and grab a cup of coffee or tea to enjoy. Waking up earlier to carve out some time for yourself with an activity you enjoy will actually improve your overall mood for the rest of the day!
Network - try to truly connect with those around you. Whether it’s your workplace, community, school, it’s always nice to belong somewhere supportive. Spend some time out and don’t get too buried behind the desk! Networking is also a good skill to have. Who knows? Opportunity might knock!
Exercise - when you exercise, the body releases endorphins, or the happy hormone to make you feel better. Exercise can also improve your overall health, Such as function and mobility, reduced cholesterol, heart diseases, Alzheimer's and so on.
Remember, taking care of your business means taking care of yourself. Self care is a necessity, not all luxury. Join #SelfCareHustle to encourage others and remind them to do the same!
