Hi Changemakers,
We’re nearing to the end of April! In celebration & appreciation for neurodiversity, we’d like to feature this month’s post to the famous Susan Boyle!
Besides being known for her achievements & talent at Britain’s Got Talent, Boyle has what is known as Asperger’s syndrome or what is called a high functioning Autism which means that she has an average-or-higher IQ, but faces challenges in her interactions with others.
As a child, Boyle faced many learning difficulties until she attended Edinburgh Acting School, and found her true passion - singing! Boyle tried publishing some of her works in the late 1990’s and paid for a vocal coach, but to little success. Auditioning for X Factor, Boyle found herself backing out due to “fear of contestants being judged solely by their looks.” (Mirror)
In 2009, Boyle decided to audition for Britains Got Talent - and the world fell.in.love. With her! Boyle came in second place in the season and went international !
Successful and inspiring, Boyle has proven to herself and others that despite your diagnosis, you can still “dream your dream.”
