1. San Diego Zoo, California: The San Diego Zoo is one of the largest and most renowned zoos in the world. It covers an expansive area of 100 acres (40 hectares) and is home to over 3,500 animals from more than 650 species.

2. Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Ohio: The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is known for its extensive animal collection. It spans over 580 acres (235 hectares) and houses over 7,000 animals from more than 800 species.

3. Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium, Nebraska: The Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium in Omaha is notable for its impressive indoor rainforest and large aquarium. It covers approximately 130 acres (53 hectares) and features a diverse collection of animals.
