Hi, Changemakers!
On July 25, 2023, the 1 Day Hybrid Workshop on the Government Relations Development Programme for Indonesian Social Leaders (GRDP-ISL) was successfully held. This event inspired Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to apply the knowledge gained within their respective organizations. As a continuation of this workshop, the Chandler Institute of Governance (CIG) and Campaign are pleased to announce a follow-up session scheduled for August 30, 2023, to further support the growth and development of CSOs in strengthening their relationships with the government.
What is the Sharing Session Workshop?
This follow-up session is designed as an extension for previous workshop participants to deepen their understanding of government relations, enhance negotiation skills, and develop strategies to address challenges. Additionally, this session will provide an opportunity for CSOs to share their experiences after implementing the knowledge gained from the previous workshop, allowing all participants to learn from various real-life examples and best practices.
What Will Be Gained from This Sharing Session?
The sharing session aims to provide valuable insights into the outcomes and experiences of CSOs who participated in the workshop. We will begin with a sharing session by the Campaign Monitoring and Evaluation Team, which will provide valuable information about the feedback and impact experienced by participants during the 1 Day Hybrid Workshop on Government Relations Development Programme for Indonesian Social Leaders (GRDP-ISL). This will offer a comprehensive understanding of the workshop's effectiveness in enhancing CSOs' capacity in government relations and partnership negotiation skills.
Next, we will discuss the theme of the sharing session, "Building Strong Partnerships with Government Stakeholders." The Chandler Institute of Governance (CIG) has provided material on this topic to CSOs during the 1-day Capacity Building Training, so this session will serve as testimonies and stories shared by CSOs on how they have applied the insights and strategies shared by the Chandler Institute of Governance (CIG). We will proceed with feedback sessions from CIG, giving participants the opportunity to share their thoughts and reflections on the workshop content and its applicability to the goals of each CSO.
Developments and Results
The session will continue with the Outreach Team providing information on the progress of each CSO's campaign challenges, showcasing real results achieved after applying the workshop's knowledge. In this comprehensive sharing session, we will discuss how CSOs, namely Yayasan Satu Karya Karsa, PetaBencana.id, CarbonEthics, and Garis Hitam Project, have leveraged the knowledge shared by Gita Hermanda (Senior Public Relations) and Jimas Ifandy (Social Media Officer) to successfully overcome their campaign challenges.
Furthermore, there will be feedback sessions from Campaign Team members Gita Hermanda and Jimas Ifandy, offering valuable insights and recommendations based on their experiences. Finally, the event will conclude with a summary, closing remarks, and photo documentation, marking the successful conclusion of this sharing session.
Strengths and Challenges
During this session, there are several strengths and weaknesses to note. The collaboration between CIG and Campaign is a significant step in strengthening education and partnerships with the government. Well-prepared MCs and program teams ensured the smooth flow of the event. Additionally, participants who had previously met created a comfortable atmosphere.
However, there are some challenges that need to be addressed. The absence of Yayasan Satu Karya Karsa (YSKK) and the delays of some Organizers posed challenges. The coordination of activity approvals with CIG was also delayed, affecting invitations and task briefings to other Organizers.
Opportunities and Threats
This session provides an opportunity for all parties to get to know each other and collaborate on joint projects between CIG, Campaign, and Organizers. Additionally, this session offers a chance to provide feedback on the implementation of partnerships with the government and CSO's media engagement. The delivery of content in both Indonesian and English by the MCs also enhances the understanding of both parties.
Possible threats include suboptimal information delivery from Organizers and some imperfections in the session's atmosphere. Nevertheless, the enthusiasm to continue learning and collaborating to strengthen the relationship between CSOs and the government remains strong.
Overall, this sharing session is a crucial step in strengthening the capacity of CSOs in government relations and building strong partnerships. By addressing weaknesses and leveraging opportunities, we believe that CSOs will become more effective in influencing positive change in society. We hope that the continuation of this workshop will continue to enrich and empower CSOs in Indonesia.
Well, what do you think? This sharing session really demonstrates the importance of this event in expanding knowledge and skills in government relations. By addressing weaknesses and leveraging available opportunities, we can undoubtedly become more effective in influencing positive change in society. We hope the continuation of this workshop will be even more exciting and beneficial for CSOs in Indonesia!
