Update

About 18 million Indonesians lack safe water and 20 million lack access to improved sanitation facilities. With the COVID-19 pandemic, millions are still striving to endure the crisis with an added challenge. The lack of basic necessities such as water is critical to the health of our families in Indonesia especially rural areas. Resource: https://water.org/our-impact/where-we-work/indonesia/

The limited access to clean water made us aware of the substandard living conditions still experienced by many Indonesian citizens. We have first-hand experience seeing the villagers carry big jugs of water from the contaminated river where ox bathe. Due to a lack of other water sources, they have had to cook and clean with that water. This leads to increased sickness in this village. With your help, we have helped them.

Thank you to you all who completed the challenge, you guys have helped us help them! During August 24-28, Solar Chapter’s implementation team were connecting pipes and building faucets. We have helped establish a water network that spans almost 4 kilometers. Along this length of tube, there will be 21 faucets where villagers can get water from. This gives them access to clean water a short walk from where they live.
