Update
TRI Upcycle is a social enterprise using upcycled materials to promote conscious consumption and a planet Earth with more trees. We produce fashion accessories from remnant and old fabrics as main material, then donate the profits from the sales to 6 NGOs who support the forest in Indonesia. In the future, we want to broaden our scope by 'playing' with other materials. Reduce waste, raising awareness, and reforestation are our missions.
TRI Upcycle was first found in 2016 by a 16yo Green School Bali student, Ben Fijal. With support of his father, Tim Fijal (Director of Kul Kul Connection Department in Green School), TRI now has 4 more team members:
1. Annisa Fauziah (25yo) bachelor of Business Management as Business Development Manager.
2. Desli Togatorop (23yo) bachelor of Anthropology as Sales and Marketing Manager.
3.Diah Rani (40yo) bachelor of Accountant with corporate experiences as Finance Manager.
4. Ayu Purnama Sari (22yo) bachelor of Public Administration as Flagship Store Manager.
We are all people who believe that this world can be a better place to live.
Since 2016, TRI Upcycle has some impacts:
1. 980 trees were planted in Central Kalimantan led by Fairventures Organization.
2. 125 trees were planted in a mangrove restoration effort in Northwest Bali led by Putri Menjangan Community.
3. Until now, TRI donations have paid for 17 dams installed on illegal canals in the Sabangau forest keeping vast areas of precious peatland, habitat to a large population of endangered orangutans, hydrated and safeguarded from burning.
4. Ransel Buku’s floating library now reaches twice as many villages with twice as many teachers. TRI funds this project by paying for the boat driver and fuel every month during for the year of 2017 and 2018.
5. With our donations to HAkA Sumatra, we funded 2 patrols, working night and day, protecting the riparian zones of the Leuser ecosystem against poachers and illegal farming that threaten biodiversity in the last remaining ecosystem on Earth where tigers, elephants, rhinos and orangutans co-exist.
6. In 2017, Fire-fighting training was provided to members of YouthAct so a growing team of forest protectors are equipped to take action when the need arises.
And here are some of our success story:
