Initiated in 2018, Freesooner.id was co-founded by Marizal Fanani, Vina Habibah, Yonathan Ade and Varrel Vendira. All of the founders were avid volunteer in various social project and NGO. The question that ignite the idea was ‘what can we improve from the existing social empowerment project?’. The discussion led to the early-idea of Freesooner.id, as a start-up on sociopreneurship. The concept is to make an empowerment program that not only desirable through the social impact, but also viable and feasible. Prisoners in Indonesia are facing stigmas and difficulties in economic. Most of the prisoners are coming from the low-economic background with inadequate skills and capacities. Our goal is to make an empowerment program that assist prison institution to prepare the prisoners with skills, and create innovation on brand-new business that can help to grow prisoners’ entrepreneurial skills. Our first project is Economic Empowerment of Prison Institution in Wirogunan, Yogyakarta. Our one year initiative plan includes pre-assessment and training for the prisoners. We nurture a platform of collaboration between the prison institution and local SMEs trough sub-contract production. We maintain the production monitoring and development and help to connect between the prison and local small creative industries that needs help in production process. We are going to establish a brand-new business unit, as a SME-partner that can be a labor-pool for the prisoners. Through the help from our partners in collaborations that we made with Wirogunan Prison Institution, we empowered the prisoners and give them chance and capability to strive for their future. Our business idea selected to represent Indonesia in Hult Prize Regional Summit Kuala Lumpur 2019. Hult Prize is one of the biggest sociopreneurship competition sponsored by The United Nation Foundation. We aren’t done yet, we want to grow our program and escalate it throughout our nation. Therefore, Young Changemakers Social Enterprise Academy pleasantly can be a medium for us to grow. With our potentials and keen to develop, we believe that our goal to help people get better future can be achieved.
