Changemakers, have you ever felt like creating a social enterprise but did not know how to start? Have you ever been stuck thinking of some ideas to create a social enterprise that will consistently grow and attract as many consumers as possible? If your answer is yes, then you definitely need to learn from Shinta Nurfauzia, CEO and Co-Founder of Lemonilo.com, as she just shared an inspiring story of how she built and maintained Lemonilo.com, last week in our #BeSociopreneur Coaching Class #1 at @america.
Shinta has been very concerned about health issue since she learned that her family had diabetic history. She further realized that Indonesian people have since long been practicing a poor diet which is high in trans-fat/ cholesterol, sugar, sodium, and artificial ingredients and preservatives. She found out that healthy food products in Indonesia were expensive that only people with high incomes could afford. Motivated to make some healthy food products which were affordable, easy to consume, and tasty, she then, with two of her friends, created Lemonilo.com, a social enterprise with instant noodles as its first prototype product. Why instant noodles? “Simply because we Indonesians, love it so much that we can eat it everyday,'' she said. With a strategic use of technology and smart investment from Alpha JWC Ventures, Lemonilo.com is consistently blossoming; and it is now a well-known tech-based market leader in the sector of healthy food products in Indonesia.
Well Changemakers, do you get it what’s the lesson learned from Shinta? It is that the ideas to start a social enterprise are actually so close to you. You can start with observing your surroundings and identifying problems that require solutions. However, be attentive so you can catch a good chance that you can turn into a social enterprise; think strategically and visionary so you can make it keep advancing; make sure that it gives the right solutions for people’s problems. There are still lots of lessons to learn from Shinta, especially about the technology that she applies in Lemonilo.com, how she managed to get smart investment, and how she thinks about the role of women in social enterprise. Curious, aren’t you? Stay tuned to our updates as we will share all the lesson learned!
