In the era of pandemic, all of us are required to wear masks while interacting with others. While some of us may find wearing a mask annoying, some of us find that it creates an impossible barrier to communicate with other people. Such is the case for people who are deaf. Besides working on their application, Gesture Linguistic also produces masker tuli, or deaf masks. Different from other masks in the market, the center part of deaf masks are transparent, so the person’s lips are visible to others. This makes it possible for deaf people to watch the other person’s lip movement and communicate better. Gesture Linguistic has distributed these deaf masks to several deaf communities, especially in the region of East Java, such as Malang, Kediri, Pamengkesan, and Madiun.
If you want to learn more about the amazing efforts of Gesture Lingustic to break down the barrier between people with different physical abilities, you’re in for a treat! Their event next Wednesday will feature many great individuals living with deafness who will share how they view the world. Here, we can learn how to be better friends to others! We’ll see all of you there, right?
