According to the CDC, more than 60% of US adults do not engage in the recommended amount of physical activity, and nearly half of American youths are not physically active on a daily basis. In fact, only 19% of all high school students are at least physically active for 20 minutes. Not only is exercising and an adequate level of physical activity good for physical health, it can also improve bone health, cardio health, muscular strength and reduce diseases such as stroke, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and certain types of cancers.

However, research also shows that good health starts in our homes, schools, and communities. Social support from one’s community, including a well designed education/school-based interventions has positive effects to increase one’s level of physical activity. Physical health is proven to provide many mental & social health benefits including reducing the risks of anxiety and depression, as well as improving cognitive activities

This is why in light of Permias Seattle’s commitment to students’ wellbeing, the annual 2023 cup aims to promote & provide a supportive community to instill a love and habit for exercise through a friendly match. 
In relation to the American Fitness Index, we aim to continuously keep improving the city of Seattle as one of the top 10 fittest cities in the US. Well-designed cities experience increased home values and retail activity, as well as business and job growth, hence economics.

Despite its many health benefits, social & community support are two of the biggest factors for one’s adequate physical activity engagement. Permias Seattle aims to provide social & community support in light of physical health benefits for the youths of Seattle.

Unfortunately, >60% of US adults do not engage in the recommended amount of exercise. As supporters, it is important to raise the awareness of the importance of social, community, and economic benefits from a society’s level of physical activity. 

The #MoveWithSeattle challenges supporters to start building the habit of moving, do daily exercise, and raise this awareness to the community. 

Our commitment to Seattle’s students’ wellbeing, the annual 2023 cup aims to promote & provide a supportive community to instill a love and habit for exercise through a friendly match. We aim to keep improving the city of Seattle as one of the top 10 fittest cities in the US. Funds raised will go to Permias Bajaj cup - a friendly match to educate & encourage participation from Seattle’s young generation in the community to move and exercise!
