GEAR Recovery, Inc is a nonprofit organization on a mission to giving everyone an advantage towards resilient recovery. We provide guidance, education, advocacy, and resources to children and families experiencing substance use and mental health disorders in their homes and communities. Founded by Jazmine Garcia in 2022, her passion is deeply rooted in assisting those who need support in the behavioral health aspect due to experiencing these very issues within her family and community. With over 10 years working in the behavioral health field, it has been proven that the importance of healing families and communities together has a lasting impact on the recovery process of humanity. 

In the city of Norfolk, there are 11,552 individuals struggling with behavioral health concerns. These numbers do not include children and families left with no support or guidance to be able to heal and understand the impact that continues to destroy families and negatively influences our communities. 

The funds raised will go towards educational curriculum, materials, and equipment for the summer 2022 GEAR’ed Up Wellness Program. Children and families impacted by substance use and mental health in their homes will be able to receive free support services, education, and resources.
